Memorial Day.

For as long as I can remember every year on memorial day we would go to the cemetery and pay our respects to our loved ones that have passed on and put flowers on their graves. It was nice being able to do it again this year.

Some very happy campers!

From the Journal of one happy camper:

Friday, day one of our camping adventures. Justin only had to work half a day therefore we were able to head to the hills around 2:00. We loaded up, hitched the trailer to the truck, and were on our way to Big Elk campground. All were excited! The drive was beautiful!
Found a great camping spot. Backed trailer in and became busy bees setting up camp.
After camp is set up we have time to sit down relax and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Within minutes the boys are dirty from head to toe. Feels great to be enjoying the good ole outdoors.
For dinner we have one of our favorite camping meals, tin foil dinners. Hamburger, Potatoes, and carrots, all wrapped up in tin foil and slow cooked on hot coals. DELICIOUS! Kamden refused to sleep in the tent but feel fast asleep on a bed in the trailer. Karson on the other hand was a night owl! Finally he too feel fast asleep and so did I.

Saturday
Awoke bright and early, that is what happens when you have kids. Stepped out of the trailer and the sun was shinning and the outdoors smelled great! I love that fresh air. Enjoyed some conversation with my family over breakfast burritos. After breakfast prepared for our trek geocaching. What is that you ask? Well thank heavens for wikipedia, they can define it much better than I. Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called "geocaches" or "caches") anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container (usually a tupperware or ammo box) containing a logbook and "treasure," usually toys or trinkets of little value. We drove, hiked, and even stopped in alpine for some ice cream, but we finally found the treasure, after a snowball fight that is. We had so much fun, and if you are up for a good adventure I highly recommend it! While waiting for our dutch oven dinner to cook we played some horse shoes. We had some delicious dinner then we watched a movie in the trailer then all feel sound asleep.

Sunday
Day three of camp I awoke to the sound of rain on the trailer roof. Everything was soaking wet. After it stopped we had a quick breakfast of cold cereal then headed out for a mid morning hike. It was overcast and cool but perfect weather for hiking. Kamden and Karson both did really well. Justin carried Karson for part of the way but then to our surprise when we put him down he actually kept up better with us then Kamden did. When the boys got tired Justin took them back and me and my sis Tess kept hiking. There is something about being out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by all that beauty that is so calming! One point in particular was overwhelmingly beautiful. It was a open meadow of wild flowers, off to our right was a fast moving creek down in a small canyon, to our far left we could see a huge waterfall, and everywhere we looked we were surrounded by mountains. We found some rocks to sit in and had a nice talk. Then we headed back on our way. It sure made me so grateful for this beautiful earth that we live on. When we got back to camp a storm was moving in. So we hurry and made a quick decision to pack up and leave. Although I would have loved to stay another day camping is no fun in the rain with two very curious boys. But what a great weekend of camping.

Mothers Day.

It was a great mothers day for my inner clean freak. This is what Justin and the boys got me and I am just loving it.

The best part about Mothers Day is having two wonderful kids and a fantastic husband to share it with. Along with the two wonderful women that raised us! Love you Moms!

Writers Rut.

I've had a bit of writers block lately and haven't been in the mood to blog. Here is some of the things we have been busy doing around here the last three weeks.

Watched my two brothers while my parents went on a cruise to Spain. Lucky them! We had a fun week having them here and they only caused us a little stress! :)

Went and watched Karlee dance at her recital. She did an awesome job and it was fun to watch her.

Celebrated Earth Day and went to the ZOO and park with some friends. Im sad we didn't get pictures because the kids were so cute and loved hanging out together and looking at the animals.

Celebrated my 27th Birthday! We had a big family party with cake and ice cream. The cake was super yummy. The next day Justin took me to a movie and then we went to dinner. We even had a chance to go to Barns and noble and relax.

My sister Tessa was in town for my Birthday and all weekend! We did lots of shopping (or looking and dreaming) and eating out. She wathced my kids several times for me to get out and about without them. Thanks so much Tessa for all your help. You are a wonderful sister and friend.

Went to dinner the night before my Birthday to Outback Steak House with Grandpa and Grandma Johnson. YUM YUM!

Went to Justins Uncle Chads to play a game, The Curse of the Wolfen. So much fun. What a great group of people!!! My sister watched the kids so once again Justin and I were able to just enjoy ourselves.

Justin drove to Salt Lake City for the day last Sunday because his little brother was at Salt Lake Primary Childrens Hospital. Come to find out his top two vertebrates aren't fused together and he will have to have surgery. He is doing well now and after the surgery he will be doing even better.

Played cards and had dinner with Grandma Joann, Karlee, Chris and Randy. That was lots of fun!

Went to the park and played Frisbee golf! Our new hobbie! Justin has been doing it lots this last year and I am just starting. It is really fun and the boys love to follow us around and throw their own Frisbee.

Got the fence all put up and stained. Now if the wind would stop blowing and the rain would stop pouring we could be using it to its full potential.

The wind has seriously been blowing for the last two weeks straight. Finally today we were able to get some relief from it. I took the boys to this awesome park in town. It was nice to get outside again and I know they had a great time getting some of their pent up energy out! It is fun to see them interact with other kids. Kamden would run by everyone and tell them "Hi" super loud and friendly. Karson just tried hugging and kissing all the little kids. We had so much fun I can't wait to take them again.
